Changing 10/11/2015

Sermon Notes   10/11/15

Changing-

2 Corinthians 3:13-18 (NLT) 13  We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. 14  But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. 15  Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. 16  But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17  For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18  So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

1 Peter 5:8 (NLT) 8  Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

Problem-

2 Corinthians 3:14-15 (NLT) 14  But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. 15  Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.

The answer-

2 Corinthians 3:16-17 (NLT) 16  But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17  For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Lord- supreme in authority, controller, God:
Freedom- the unrestrained opportunity to change.

Deuteronomy 30:19 (NLT) 19  “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT) 18  So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

What is it going to take for you to change?

1st– the veil has to be removed and you have to understand and be willing to change some things in your life.

2nd– you understand and know that it will take God’s Spirit.

3rd– you know that if you believe all things are possible, that God has the power to do it.

Ephesians 3:20-21 (KJV) 20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) 7  Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Ephesians 4:23 (NLT) 23  Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.

John 8:11 (NLT) 11  “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”

Jesus didn’t condemn her, but neither did he ignore or condone her behavior. Jesus told the woman to leave her life of sin.

Acts 2:14 (NLT) 14  Then Peter stepped forward with the eleven other apostles and shouted to the crowd, “Listen carefully, all of you, fellow Jews and residents of Jerusalem! Make no mistake about this. (I have been changed)
